“In the play therapy experience, toys are like the child's words, and play is the child's language.”

- Garry Landreth

What is play therapy?

Play Therapy offers children a space to explore and work through their challenges in a way that feels comfortable and natural for them. Through play with toys and creative materials in the Play Therapy room, children can express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns.

This therapy approach is non-directive, meaning that the child takes the lead during the sessions. They are free to do and say whatever they wish, or remain silent, within the safe environment of the room and process emotions at their own pace.

The use of creative materials and toys helps children project their thoughts and feelings onto something external, making it easier for them to articulate concerns that they might not have the words for yet. It's also a fantastic way for kids to build coping strategies and gain emotional insight, all while feeling empowered in the therapeutic space.

Sessions typically last 40 minutes and are held weekly. Most children benefit from a minimum of 12 sessions, with a parental review around 8-10 weeks into sessions to determine progress.
